Carpenter – Construction
Responsibilities:
- Construct, renovate, erect, and install structures and components of structures made of wood, wood substitutes, lightweight steel and other materials
- Prepare layouts, measure, cut, shape, assemble, and join moldings, wood materials, steel studs, drywall and plastics materials
- Install horizontal and vertical metal studs to frames so that wallboard can be attached to interior walls
- Cabinetry installation
- Door hardware installation
- Cut and install metal framing and trim to size, using cutting tools
- Cut and screw together metal channels to make floor or ceiling frames, according to plans
- Fit and install windows, doors, stairs, moldings, and hardware
- Suspended ceiling installation
- Build steel stud walls and partition installation
- Operate power tools
Education & Experience
- Secondary School completion is mandatory
- Certificate of Apprenticeship or Trades Qualification Certificate as a Journeyman Carpenter recognized by the Province of B.C.
- Three years’ recent, related experience in commercial construction.
Knowledge & Abilities
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Great attitude.
- Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings and specifications.
- Ability to organize work.
- Ability to operate related equipment.
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Salary: $30.00-$35.00 per hour
